The New Official Valentine’s Day Tradition

I am happy to report that (despite my fears) Valentine’s Day was a success! There was no awkwardness or disappointment. And even more importantly, I figured out what our New Official Valentine’s Day Tradition is!

(Granted, none of this has been discussed with Mr. Big, but I have decided that I like how the weekend went and I would like the same repeated next year and every year after that)

Here are my highlights from the weekend, and my New Official Valentine’s Day Tradition starter pack:

1. Valentine’s Day Card
Cue an overdose of sweetness from Ella!

My heart melted when she gave me this Valentine’s Day card, complete with random drawings of girls, bags and puppies (?). Maybe next time we can all make cards for each other! (How cheesy am I?)

2. Foooood!!
Y’all know that I love to eat and it is my firm belief that an abundance of food is a prerequisite for any occasion worth celebrating. And boy did I eat this weekend! We went to About Thyme (I had the Chicken Pot Pie), Mambo Italia (their pizza is to die for) and Tiramisu (a delightful little bakery). Apparently, part of the New Official Valentine’s Day Tradition includes gaining 5 kgs.

3. Family lovin’
By insisting that the New Official Valentine’s Day Tradition must include a separate family fun day I accomplish two key things: I succeed in prolonging the celebrations for an extra day AND I rope in my little bestie, Ella, into the Valentine’s Day festivities. This way, I get not just one but TWO days of being spoiled love! For her Valentine’s Day, Ella wanted swimming, pizza and ice-cream. So we took her to the water park playground at Garden City then let her eat to her heart’s content (she even got to have ice-cream before her meal which launched her into a sugar induced mania that I still have nightmares about)

4. Wine, wine, more wine
Lots of wine was had this weekend. Lots. I dare say that we worked our way through the equivalent of a little vineyard. We sat under the stars in the backyard, drank cheap wine and laughed into the wee hours of the morning. It was splendid. This reminded me that I want to do a series of vlogs about my serious love affair with cheap budget wines. Four Cousins, anyone?

5. Last but certainly not least, BOW CHICKA WOW WOOOOOOW…
Sigh. Need I say more? Valentine’s Day is the day for love afterall…

Just catching up on your blog (which I’m absolutely loving), and I had to stop here just for a second to say YES and YES to four cousins! 😉
