Bikes and Gang Signs

Ella just got her first bike! Yay for milestones! I remember the exact day when I got my first bike – a red BMX. I remember everything about that day too, right down to the green t-shirt and blue jeans that I was wearing when it arrived.

Naturally, when Ella was presented with her bike, I wanted to capture the Kodak moment! (Gosh, do people still call them Kodak moments? Do people still say Gosh?!)

But, here’s the thing, Ella can never just sit still for a photo! Never ever. Her photo poses are always ridiculously dramatic . She can be sitting angelically reading a book but the second I tell her to smile for a picture, she sticks out her tongue and throws up a gang sign. It’s like she’s El Hefe of some pre-school gang that I don’t know about.

This time was no different. As soon as she was told to pose for a photo with her bike, she hopped off and did this:

So then I was like, “Don’t be ridiculous honey. We can’t even see you because you’re behind the bike” And she made the following improvement:

And then I was like, “Well, at least get on the bike so we can see that you know how to ride it.” So then this happened:

This will have to do as her First Bike milestone photo because this girl just won’t quit the thug life.

P.S – If anyone knows which gang my daughter belongs to, please let me know.

P.S.S – She’s in pajamas in the middle of the day because it was a cold Sunday and cold Sundays are “pajama days” at our house. Actually, who am I kidding, most indoor days are “pajama days” at our house. Because we make the rules. And mostly, there are no rules. WHAT. *throws up gang sign*
