Back To School and Goodbye Nursery!

Come on kids, back to school! I loathed that Bata advert as a child. 80s kids will shudder at the memory of that iconic TV ad. It would immediately bring tears to our eyes because it confirmed the painful truth that school holidays were officially over. It was especially painful to hear that back to school jingle at the end of the August school holiday, because it was the longest and laziest holiday of the year.

Although today’s kids have been spared the torture of hearing that infamous jingle, their August school holiday has nevertheless come to a close. And yesterday, Ella went back to school for her last term in nursery school!

I can’t believe it! It was just the other day when I was telling you guys her birth story and now she’s on the verge of starting primary school!? I can’t deal.

It’s no secret that I’m overly sentimental and easily excitable, so naturally, I tore into Ella’s room at the crack of dawn yesterday to get her excited about her first day of school (and last term in nursery!) It worked! She woke up and got ready for school in record time!

Yes, she lost a couple of extra teeth during her holiday and no, I do not know what she was doing with her hands in this pic

Guys, we were SO early and excited that we even got her backpack ready long before her school van driver began his impatient hooting in the parking lot! I even remembered (for the first time in history) to pack her school handkerchief! This was a morning of absolute WIN!!

Will Frozen EVER stop being a thing? Seriously, this movie is a like a cult for little girls

I’ll always remember Ella’s time in nursery with fondness. In these 3 years she has transformed from a wobbly, anxious toddler into a confident, charismatic pre-schooler. She has breezed through tonnes of milestones – she’s learned how to add, how to read, how to swim, how to negotiate for more screen time… she’s gone from being my little baby into being my little girl.

I couldn’t be prouder of who she’s growing up to be. Goodbye nursery! Onwards and upwards my precious baby little girl!

This is such a nice post. Just thought how amazing it will be for Ella to read this blog when she’s older! I love reading about her milestones and watching her grow into the smart and beautiful girl that she is. Good job mama Ella! Keep up the awesome mothering and keep the posts coming. xo

Oh and omg I hear you on that frozen vibe. Lol. Went to buy my niece a few frozen gifts as per her request and stock had ran out fast!

My emotions are so confused right now, when did she grow up?? So just to let you know, you are not the only one who cant deal…sniff sniff…I suspect I will be the only one crying that morning :((

Can’t believe Ella’s almost done with kindergarten…well done Shiko👏🏾 Just you wait for graduation and see how you’ll be sniffling. Choked up day 1 of kindergarten(while the kids smiled and waved)), and at their kindergarten graduations and the water works didn’t let up on year 6 graduation…Lord help me. Anyway, no graduations in the near future so I’m safe…or my babies are safe from any mummy embarrassment (yeah right)
